The 2026 FIFA World Cup is shaping up to be the biggest in the tournament's history. Whether you plan to follow every match or just want to back your country in style, here is what fans need to know - and how to get your kit ready.
A bigger tournament than ever
The 2026 World Cup will be the first to feature 48 teams, up from 32 at previous tournaments. That means more nations, more matches and more chances to see your country on the world stage.
Three host nations
For the first time, the World Cup will be co-hosted by three countries: the United States, Canada and Mexico. Matches will be played across North America in the summer of 2026.
Why fans are excited
With an expanded format and three host nations, the 2026 World Cup promises more football than any edition before it. Traditional powerhouses like Brazil, Argentina, France and Germany will be joined by nations making the most of the extra places.
